Mark Strand was born In Summerside, P.E.I., Canada and grew up in the United States. From 1990 -1991 he was Poet Laureate of the United States. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize, he has written ten books of poetry and teaches in the Committee on Social Thought at the University of Chicago.
